Morpho Appoints Digital Security & Authentication VP

Morpho Appoints Media Expert as Digital Security & Authentication VPMorpho (Safran) has appointed a new Executive Vice President for its Digital Security and Authentication division. Olivier Méaux is now taking over for Jacques Pantin, who has become the company’s special advisor in charge of cybersecurity, according to a press release.

Méaux brings with him a wealth of experience in the digital and IT sectors. In the ’90s he worked for Thomson Multimédia as its VP of Digital Systems and Services, and he proceeded to television between 1998 and 2002, working as VP of Business Development and Telecommunications for the France 2 network. From 2002 to 2013 he held a number of positions with Orange, a global telecommunications operator; since 2013 Méaux has been Managing Director of Sopra-Steria’s Telecom and Media division.

His experience in the media and telecommunications appears to figure prominently in his appointment. In a press release, Morpho CEO Anne Bouverot welcomed Méaux to the team, noting that his “expertise in digital innovation will help energize and leverage our strengths in this market, a strong growth opportunity for Morpho.” While Morpho has been promoting solutions aimed at the enterprise level, such as recently-announced video analytics and biometric access control systems, Bouverot’s statement may be a hint that the company could be seeking to expand its activities in the areas of user-facing authentication technologies, perhaps through mobile devices, or maybe through other media.
