Major Tactivo Order Placed By US Navy

US Navy Places Major Order for Tactivo Devices

Precise Biometrics has received another major order for its Tactivo devices from the US Department of Defense. In this case, the order comes via the US Navy, and has been placed through Precise Biometrics’ partner supplier Carahsoft.

It’s a big order, valued at 1.1 million SEK, and its revenues will impact the company’s Q4 results. The US Navy is seeking to implement a secure means by which email and online browsing can be accessed via iOS devices, and to that end it has ordered Precise Biometrics’ Tactivo device, which is essentially a casing for mobile Apple devices that reads smart cards, adding an extra layer of security to mobile online access; it’s a solution that is compatible with the Common Access Card infrastructure that the Navy already has in place. The US Navy has also ordered Tactivo Guardian Cases, rugged sleeves for the Tactivo and iPad that provide tough physical protection for the devices – an item of particular use in military deployments.

Commenting on the order in a statement, Precise Biometrics CEO Håkan Persson notes that “Tactivo continues to gain ground in the US Department of Defense,” and indeed, the company has enjoyed considerable attention from the DoD lately, with three previous orders since December of last year. The company’s Tactivo devices have enjoyed considerable popularity in the healthcare sector too, with an English National Health Service foundation trust also having ordered the devices in May of this year, and Sweden’s healthcare authorities having approved it for use the month before that.
