Precise Biometrics Awarded by Frost & Sullivan

Precise Biometrics Awarded by Frost & SullivanFingerprint biometrics developer Precise Biometrics has received a prestigious award for its technology. Growth consultancy firm Frost & Sullivan has awarded the company its 2015 Global Frost & Sullivan Award for Customer Value Leadership, for its Precise BioMatch Mobile software.

The software is essentially an algorithm, which the company has been licensing to partners in the mobile device world, as in the case of the Oppo N3 and Huawei Ascend Mate 7 smartphones, thanks to their use of Precise partner FPC’s touch sensors.

In a statement, Frost & Sullivan praised the software for having been used last year in the first Android smartphone to employ a touch fingerprint sensor, and a spokesperson said that Precise Biometrics’ technology “offers superior convenience and security”, and “is聽critical for mobile device manufactures to ensure the transition to the new authentication paradigm.” The new paradigm being, of course, the one in which major smartphone makers are trying to install biometric authentication systems in their devices in anticipation of the boom in mPayment use over the coming months and years.

To some extent the award represents a major validation of Precise Biometrics’ business strategy over the last several months, the company having announced late last summer that it would place a strong focus on the mobile fingerprint biometrics market. Of course, the company’s mobile fingerprint technology has applications beyond the consumer smartphone market as well. In acknowledging the award, the company has been keen to point out that its Precise BioMatch Embedded technology is equally effective and can be integrated in a wide range of hardware platforms.
