New Coolpad Smartphone Uses FPC, Precise Biometrics Tech

New Coolpad Smartphone Uses FPC, Precise Biometrics TechChina-based smartphone maker Coolpad has launched a new device featuring a Fingerprint Cards (FPC) fingerprint sensor. The new Coolpad Note 3 uses an FPC1025, which itself employs Precise Biometrics algorithm software.

In terms of other key specifications, the Coolpad Note 3 has a 5.5″, 720 x 1280 pixel touchscreen, a 13 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front-facing camera, a 1.3GHz MediaTek 6753 processor, and 3G and 4G connectivity. It also runs on Android 5.1; with its fingerprint authentication capabilities, that makes it compatible with the Android Pay mPayment system.

Coolpad is one of the biggest smartphone makers in China, so the integration is a big win for FPC and Precise Biometrics. It isn’t the first time these companies have worked together, though; just a couple of weeks ago, Coolpad launched the Coolpad Shine, another smartphone that integrated an FPC1025 sensor. Given the rising popularity of smartphone fingerprint sensors, and FPC’s prominence as a supplier to Asia-based OEMs, it’s a fair bet that this partnership will continue.
